REGION: Gunnison National Forest TITLE: Irwin Lodge
NOTES: West of Crested Butte in the Ruby Range, the Irwin Lodge is a backcountry skiing haven with 1,600 skiable acres and 2,100 of vertical. The area averages 600 to 700 inches of snowfall annually.
The lodge and snowcat operation is currently run by Irwin Backcountry Guides LLC. They plan to start operation in mid-February with 10 guests per day.
If you are still up for some nightlife after along day of cat skiing, try Kochevars after 5pm, LoBar after 10pm and the Talk Of The Town after midnight.
